San Elijo shifts into high gear

The shine of chrome could be seen for miles around the San Elijo campus parking lot on Saturday. Mopar’s 18th annual All American Classic Car Show filled the west parking lot with some rare classics. I have seen car shows with larger volumes of cars but none with as many rare gems. Saturday’s show featured a bevy of classic machines. Mopar is part of Chrysler’s customer care organization so the show was heavy on Dodge Challengers and Hemis. There was a definite featured theme in Chrysler Auto.

According to Jeff Walker, president of Mopar club San Diego chapter (see video) Mopar’s All-American Classic is held annually. The proceeds go to aid veteran’s assistance programs including Homefront San Diego, the USO San Diego, and Wounded Warriors

San Elijo and Mopar came together to put on quite a comprehensive representation of classics from all eras. Mid 1950s Bel Airs, Ford classic trucks. Dodge Challengers and Hemis of course and even a couple Chevy low-rider Impalas.

Bitchin Burgers food truck was on campus cooking up some patties in the parking lot and for your sweet tooth Wicked Awesome Ice Cream Company was on hand. But the must try for food was the Wounded Warriors hot dog kiosk. They were quite amazing by all standards. Saturday, Mopar at San Elijo was a classic show indeed.
