As many students here at the college may have noticed, the Student Center’s North East end is still under construction. The project’s goal is to renovate Student Activities and Outreach Center, Student Clubroom and the new Social Justice and Equities Center. The work is expected to demolish the existing interior elements, installation of new non-load-bearing partitions, electrical power and data outlets.
Kitchell Construction is the company currently doing the construction for the college. Kitchell Construction has done many projects for Miracosta in the past including: The San Elijo Science Labs, Gen 7 modular classrooms, the air handlers in theatre building 2000 and the four new study rooms in the library.
So, when is the construction expected to be over? “Friday is when we expect to move back into our office,” says Laurie Smith, Secretary of Student Activities. After that life on campus should go back to normal and the Student Center will have a new face lift to show off for the new semester.
