Get some green in your life

Look outside your window. What do you see? An empty yard? A dead tropical plant because you thought it could survive? Wouldn’t you much rather create an environment that makes you feel good?  According to the horticulture’s  instructional associate, Carolyn Kinnon, student workers will help you pick out something for your home or garden. Many of these plants are drought resistant so you don’t have to worry about watering them daily. The staff is friendly and helpful and they have some of the best prices, beating Home Depot and Lowes, which is great for a college student shoestring budget.

“The funds are also used to purchase supplies and materials needed for producing plants for sale, ” explained Kinnon. The money they receive is also used to open up student jobs to help maintain the plants and landscaping in the department as well as their annual poinsettia sale in December.

The Horticulture Department has a plant sale every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. They do not accept cash but do accept checks and debit/credit cards, so make sure to grab your checkbook or debit/credit card and head on over to the plant sale.
