MiraCosta College Scholarships – Fall 2017

Fall 2017 LIFE Scholarships for Foster Youth ($500)

  • Qualified candidates must be former Foster Youth participating in the RAFFY program.
    • RAFFY: Resources and Assistance for former Foster Youth
  • Students must have completed 12 units or more at MiraCosta College with a cumulative 2.0 or greater GPA, and currently enrolled in 9 units or more at MiraCosta College and demonstrate financial need.

Fall 2017 MiraCosta College Osher Scholarships (renewable Fall & Spring)

  • Students must be receiving a Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW), have already completed at least 24 degree applicable units with a cumulative 2.0 or greater GPA at MiraCosta College.
  • Students must be enrolled in six units or more each semester, maintain a 2.0 or greater GPA, have satisfactory academic progress each semester to be eligible for renewal at MiraCosta College. The scholarship is not transferrable.
  • Osher scholarship awards are prorated based on enrollment up to $1,000 annually, $3,000 maximum: $500 full-time (12+ units), $375 three-quarter time (9-11 units) and $250 part-time (6-8 units). This scholarship is renewable each fall and spring semester the student continues to meet the eligibility criteria at MiraCosta College. Current recipients do not have to reapply each semester. Review the award process.

Fall 2017 MiraCosta College Winski Scholarships (renewable Fall & Spring)

  • Renewable $500 scholarships based on maintaining eligibility each fall and spring semesters up to four consecutive semesters at MiraCosta College, $2,000 maximum award. Scholarship is not transferrable. Students must be enrolled 12 units or more each semester, complete 12 units each semester, maintain a 3.0 or greater GPA each semester, and have financial need.
  • A Letter of Recommendation from a MiraCosta College instructor, counselor, or staff member is required and submitted online. On page 5 of the application, enter the name and e-mail of your recommender and they will receive email instructions to submit their recommendation. Click here on how to ask for a letter of recommendation.

2018-19 Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship

Datron World Communications Employee/Family Member Scholarship

Student must be a current Datron World Communications employee or a family member of an employee: mother, father, daughter, step-daughter, son, step-son or grandchild to be eligible to apply.

  • Student must be currently enrolled at MiraCosta College in six or more units for the fall and/or spring semesters and maintain at enrollment (6 units) to be eligible for a disbursement, and at least three (3) units for summer to be eligible for a summer disbursement. Student must maintain a 2.0 or greater cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) at MiraCosta College.
  • Scholarship awards up to $2,000 per academic year. Students may be renewed for the scholarship each semester as long as they continue to meet the eligibility criteria, have not reached the $2,000 maximum for that academic year, and funds are available.  Scholarship is to be used for education expenses: tuition, fees, books and supplies.

MiraCosta College Wright Smith Family Study Abroad Scholarship

  • Student must have already completed 12 units at MiraCosta College with a cumulative 2.5 or higher GPA. Student must intend to enroll full-time or a minimum of 9 units in a Study Abroad program. Students are encouraged to complete a Free Application Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

  • Proof of acceptance in a Study Abroad program is required from the MiraCosta International Office.
  • Download Application. Scholarship recipient will be notified in December. To receive the award, they must present to the Scholarship Office proof of acceptance in a study abroad program, receipt that the program is paid in full or more than half of the payments have been made, and a thank you letter addressed to the donor.

Fall 2017 MiraCosta College Friends of Dance Scholarships ($500)

  • Students must have completed six or more units of dance at MiraCosta College with a cumulative 2.0 or greater GPA, planning to continue in six or more units at MiraCosta College, and demonstrate financial need.
  • Student must be majoring in Dance, double majoring in Dance, or pursuing a Dance certificate.

Spring 2018 MiraCosta Classified Senate Employee Scholarship ($500)

  • Must be a MiraCosta College permanent classified employee, or a dependent between the ages of 17-24 of a permanent classified employee. First priority will be given to permanent classified staff, followed by dependents.
  • Classified staff must be current with the payment of their classified dues.
  • Must include proof of enrollment or intent to enroll in an education program; i.e. course description, class schedule, etc.

MiraCosta College Scholarships – Spring 2018

MCC 2018-19 Annual Scholarships (over 250 awards $500 – $2,500)

Apply if you are a MiraCosta students continuing in the fall, or a MiraCosta student transferring this fall to a four-year institution, or a graduating high school student planning to attend MiraCosta in the fall.

  • Continuing students must have already completed six (6) or more units with a cumulative 2.0 or greater Grade Point Average (GPA) at MiraCosta, and plan to enroll in six or more units for the fall semester at MiraCosta College.
  • MiraCosta students transferring to a four-year institution in the fall must plan to enroll in 12 or more units, have a cumulative 2.0 or greater GPA and completed six (6) or more units at MiraCosta College.
  • High school students must be graduating this spring, have a cumulative 2.0 or greater GPA, and plan to enroll in six (6) or more units at MiraCosta College for the fall semester.
    • High school students must submit a MiraCosta application for the Spring semester to receive a MiraCosta student ID number and create a Surf password. A MiraCosta student ID number and password are required for the online application.
    • High School students must upload a current, unofficial high school transcript saved as a PDF file.

2018-19 Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary Nursing Scholarships

  • Students must be currently enrolled at MiraCosta College in a Nursing program (LVN, LVN-RN or RN), with a cumulative 3.0 or greater GPA.
    • Current Nursing students who received the 2016-17 Tri-City Hospital Auxiliary Scholarship, only need to submit an Application with a current, unofficial MiraCosta transcript to be considered for renewal. Download Application

Spring 2018 California Coast Credit Union Service Learning Scholarships ($500)

  • Student must have completed 12 or more units at MiraCosta, with a cumulative 3.0 or greater GPA, and currently enrolled in nine (9) or more units at MiraCosta. Must be a U.S. citizen or a resident alien.
  • Student must be involved with student leadership activities on campus and/or completed 25 hours of volunteer/service learning at a nonprofit or K-12 educational facility documented through the Service Learning and Volunteer Center.

2018 MiraCosta College Harry Phillips Social Science Transfer Scholarship

  • MiraCosta student transferring this fall to a 4-year institution in one of five disciplines: Anthropology, Economics, Geography, History, or Political Science. Students must have 12 or more units in any of the five qualifying disciplines, taken at any college, but with at least six units taken at MiraCosta College.
  • Cumulative 3.0 or greater GPA in all college work attempted, and 3.2 or greater GPA in all courses in your major.

  • Student must submit a completed Datron World Communications Scholarship Application with attachments by the deadline date. Scholarship is to be used for education expenses; such as, tuition, fees, books and supplies.

Victory Fund Assistance for Injured Military Veterans

The Victory Fund operates through “Nice Guys” to provide one-time emergency assistance for injured military veterans attending MiraCosta College. The grant is a “hand up” one-time gift of funds to resolve a single financial incident. Applicant criteria: must be a military veteran attending MiraCosta College, injured as a result of recent combat, with a specific one-time financial need. The HATOFF-SWAN Scholarship was created at Pomona College with the hope of supporting a “full-ride” scholarship to a MiraCosta College student transferring to Pomona College in the fall, click here for a list ofmajors. Students must complete a FAFSA and be accepted to Pomona College to be eligible for the scholarship. Contact Pomona College for information. Pomona College is one of the Claremont Collegesthat includes Scripps College, Claremont McKenna College, Harvey Mudd College, and Pitzer College.
